LI : To learn new skills in tennis
This week was like a challenge week, we would be in a duo/partner with someone and we would rally with another duo/partner. We had a few rules such as, the champions had two lives well challengers have 1,and the ball cannot enter a certain space and so on. After a few rounds the champions from another court would vs each other. This week was preparing us for next week when its only us and no partners.
I am in Year 6 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 1, and my teachers are Mr Wong and Mr Ogilive.

Tennis
LI : To learn more about volley.
For kiwisport, we learned how to volley. A volley is keeping the ball in the air without it falling on the ground. We had our practice on it we then started to have a rally, we had a rally with our partners.

LI : To learn the basic grip on a tennis racket
The first thing we did before picking up a racket and playing tennis was a warm up. So we got into pairs, and one person dropped a ball way above someone's hands. The person had to try and flip their hands in time to catch the ball, this was a warm up to test our reactions.
After that we picked up a tennis racket and learned the forehand and backhand technique, one hand had to be at the bottom of the racket, this hand was our dominant hand. Well the backhand had two hands of the racket dominate at the same time, one hand was at bottom and the other hand holds above the other hand.

Kiwi Sport | Swimming
LI : To learn new life saving skills well using a life jacket.
This was our last session for swimming so we had some fun and used life jackets. We all got a life jacket an we went in the pool before we entered the pool we did a safe entry from what we learnt last week. We did got in a chain with a bunch of people by putting our hand in their life jacket and try to get from one side of the pool to another. We put our heads back and all of us used our legs to kick so we can move faster
We then did a huddle. So a group of people close together to keep warm by wrapping arms around each other if we were trapped in the ocean we would put old people or kids in the middle. Next was the H.E.L.P position. Which means heat escape lessening position. Basically we put our knees to our chest to keep us warm in emergencies. We tried to do a handstand underwater with the life jacket. But it could not be done but it could if someone pushed us down.
The last learning we did with the life jacket was how to enter water safely well wearing the life jacket. We first put one arm on a shoulder well another arm well be behind our head (to make sure we did not hit the wall with our head). Then step forward into the pool until you have fallen off (not like a jump into the pool).

LI : To learn new skills for swimming
We started with a streamline. A streamline is when you put your arms up behind your head and kick with your legs well your head is in the water, if you want to breathe you lift your head up well your head and face the side well one arm is in the water, well the other is straight in the water we did that 3 times. Next we did arm strokes we swam with our chest facing down well our arms will lift up in a circle 3 times, then we did back strokes the same thing but our back is facing in the water (we did it 3 times).

We first warmed up doing streamlines. A streamline is when you put your arms up behind your head and kick. Next we did back strokes we swam with our chest facing up then flipping over to face the water. When that was done there were toys that were in the water we had to dive to find.

Swimming
LI : To learn how to swim in water
We went into the pool we first swam to an area to see what group were going into. I got put into the highest group, the first strategy we did was pan cake were we floated and spared out like a star fish and flip our self over to face up ward. The next strategy we did was the dolphin dive it is were we jump up and dive down to touch the group and go back up. We found a area were we had dolphin dive to.
The last strategy we did was we lay flat like a star fish but our legs and arms are by our side. And then we put our legs to make a ball shape then do some sort of flip in the water then come up and release our legs and swim. It was time to go so we all freestyled to were we are meant to be.

HIIT
We did HIIT. We did 3 exercise they were push ups,pull ups and high knees. The teacher showed us ways we can do the push ups. One was using our knees the other had to use one leg this was the hardest and the last one was a normal push up. For high knees one technique was to use the stage and get the knees to the elbows and use the ground. Lastly we had push ups there were three ways to do this. Use our knees close to our bum but not touch it and put our legs flat on the ground and use our chest not the legs. And lastly was to put the hands the opsite of were we are facing.

Kiwi sport
This week for kiwi sport we learnt new skills they were called cat leap,scale,the turn and more.
Rotation 1. Back roll on a wedge and on ground then back roll,straddle,front/back/side support then two straight jumps then handstand. Then run up and straight jump and land then run up straight jump and forward roll.
Rotation 2. Handstand on stick then on bars swinging then practising our cat leap and scale then swinging on big bars and front/side/back support.
Rotation 3. Practise going on balancing bar without stairs then cat leap on small line, bunny hops on plank then forward roll on plank.

LI : To develop body movements of balance,rotation and strength
We went to the hall and said hi to Steve. Then we did a warm up it was called tag we would skip or jump on one foot. Next we did some stretches from last week there were the L shape,seal,butterfly,cat,straddle and back,front and side support. Then we did a rotation the first one I did included a long blue carpet were we do handstands. A trampoline where we jumped and we had to make a star fish. A backwards roll then we went on a spirng were we wold jump and do a 180 dreege turn.
the second rotation made a us go on parallel bars and try to balance on them. Then a handstand on a wall. Next was front support then side support then back. And the last one which was hard was a balancing beam were we would walk backwards then a bench were we would do little jumps or a forward roll. Then a little blue line were we would do a cartwheel or jump over it. My reflection was that the foward roll one was hard but I did not do it as I thought I my hurt myself.

Ki o rahi
LI : To learn how to play the poper ki o rahi.
We got black belts and long colored bands.We were playing the poper ki o rahi.So taniwha where in the red and blue cones,But now they can leave it and garb the bands of the other team.The other team was Kioma.They had to touch the po with the ki and score in the middle to win.We would swap over to so we would keep the bands it was just we were on the other team.We won at the end.

LI : To learn how to play the taniwha role.
We did 3 challanges for ki o rahi.The frist challange was that everyone had to throw the ki at the tupu to get a score,We had 1minute to get the most scores.We got the high score,(25) The next challange is to get the whole team to hit the tupu (middle) once you did you sat outside of the playzone.We got the whole team down in 1m 29s.Now we had to hit the tupu (middle) well people protected the tupu.We got three hits as it was hard.

Ki o rahi
LI - To learn the areas of the field in ki o rahi.
Today we played ki o rahi, we were told the legend before we started playing.The Frist layer is the world which is outside.Next the teeths or pow,next the water or moat which is awakari that is the red and green cones.Next is the island or moutere the people on the other team would have a ball and throw and try and hit the middle.That would make the people who are trying to run around it have to stop.They have a yellow ball.Later in the game there would be two people who are trying to make a team hit the middle.If you were a runner you had to touch the pow or teeth and when that was done go next to the water and ice bridge,arawhata place the ball there.That would mean that you won.And then at the last person in the line (the gold child) would bring everyone back to the line.If the golden child got in you lost.

LI : To learn new moves in boxing.
Today we did boxing.The frist thing we had to do was fine someone who was as skilled or your level.Because this was our last day at boxing we were doing a real boxing session.We frist did a warm up.It was that one person had a noodle and had to do 10 punches.When that was done they had to then do bripy.And then 20 bripy so basicly always adding 10.Then we started to do the combo's jab,cross,right upper cut,left hock.I started off with the gloves.Next was jab.jab,cross then bridge cross.Then we had to wait and get one more explation of another combo.It was jab cross roll.left hock roll left hock.We did it but I tried to do it fast.It was kind of hard.

LI : To learns moves protec ourselfs.
Today we did kiwi sport.We were going to do boxing and we were going to learn how we can protec ourselfs.We frist played a game.It was stuck in the mud.We played it so we can warm up also get the heart going.We had a total of three games.Now next we had had to fine a someone who was good, as us or good at our level.The person our found who was my level was Rj.We did rock,paper,scissors so we called see who was frist.Rj won so he got the boxing gloves.I got the noodle not one but two.Rj had to get gloves then the boxing gloves.
The frist thing we did was blocking.I cause I had to noodles had to hit Rj in the head.He had to use his gloves to block it.We went slow and I had to say ready then go.He had to quickly block then hit the noodle.Like right then left.
The next thing we had to do was get the noodles and try to hit him.But this time Rj had to move back with his feet then come back and hit the noodles.It was right left right.He did well but sometimes I touch him.
Then Rj had to slip a slip is when the noodle aims for you head then move so it hits your shoulder.I could hit him on the right but I had to use the left noodle then use the right to hit the left.I started with the right and this time we did it fast.I still had to say ready go.
This was the last defence we learnt so far.We had to put the noodle on Rj shoulder then hold it still.Then we had to go under the noodle then use the closest hand to hit the noodle.Not hit it but upper-cut the noodle.

LI : To learn some more skills about boxing
Today I did kwi sport.The frist thing we did was saying hi to pax then finding a panther.When that was done we had to get a cone and one had to be on the left of the cone and the right.I was on the right and my panther was vayan and he was on the left.When that was done we had to garb boxing gloves and put the liners on which are small gloves.Then vayan and more people had to get a noodle The next thing we do was talk about what we did last week now we had to defend ourselfs.The next thing we did was put the things away then garb the cone.I won 5 - 4.Then we put them back on and we had to doge the noodle.And more.The task was fun and it was good to learn more about defence.We left and we said by and we also ask questions.As we went back to LS1.

LI : To learn more combos / moves for boxing
Today we did kiwi sport.We were doing boxing and we had to do combos.We frist did this frist combo it was jab which is our left fist then cross which is our right.We did that for a while so we could do it fast.Then it was the combo it was jab,cross hock on our left then on our right.Then upper cut and upper cut.It was fun and we did it faster everytime.Then we learnt how to walk well in the rock postion.We did it fast well doing jab and cross.Then we started to do more combos before we went back to class.

LI : To learn new skills about boxing
On thursday we did boxing.We ran put the liners then gloves on.We made a line and got in with a panther.We did our jab and cross then we made a cricle.We started to do a new move.It was called hock.We had to get the gloves and make it go around us.When that was done we did a new move called upper cut.This one had to go to the side of us hit the air well going up.It was fun and we keept on doing that.Both of them wernt hard but were hard a bit.

LI : To learn how do boxing
Today I and group A did boxing.We lined up outside and went in we frist were told the rules.They are respect,discipline and safety.When we read the names we had to read what it said like respect.I will respect my coach and so on.When we did that we started to put the boxing gloves on.But we had a timer if we did not do it in 90 seconds we had to do a birby.Her name was pax and not one person had to do the briby but the whole team.When that was done we did a stance know as the rock we put our left foot foward.And our right foot back,We also bended our knees for power, and to not be pushed easy.The next thing we did was punches they were called jab and cross.We did the jab frist it was a punch but it was fast and had to be straight we used liners to make sure our hands dont get sweety.Ather a bit more we used our panther like a boxing bag.Not really they had to have there hand out and we had to punch it.Next was cross we had to move our leg for more power.It was easy but the leg moving not so much.We did the same thing it was also called hightfive we had to hit there hand with our right on there right.When that was done we did a combo we did the same thing with our panther.When that was done we tock our liners off and boxing golves.Then we went back to LS1

LI : To learn how to swim
Today the Y5s went onto a bus and into swimming.We got changed and first swam on our back and kick our feet really fast.We did this 3 times before doing jellyfish.Jelly fish was when you put you knees up then made a triangle shape and putting it in the middle fast.This was hard to do as I and others were knew to doing something like this.Next we did swimming under water.The frist thing we did was to garb a toy and chuck it and go under water or duck dive.Duck dive is when you left your body up and dive.Ather that we had to swim in a hoop,It was easy and hard as it was at the bottom of the pool so you had to dive deep.Ather we got a noodle and did a horse race.We said bye as this was the last week and went back to LS1.
