LI : To learn new life saving skills well using a life jacket.
This was our last session for swimming so we had some fun and used life jackets. We all got a life jacket an we went in the pool before we entered the pool we did a safe entry from what we learnt last week. We did got in a chain with a bunch of people by putting our hand in their life jacket and try to get from one side of the pool to another. We put our heads back and all of us used our legs to kick so we can move faster
We then did a huddle. So a group of people close together to keep warm by wrapping arms around each other if we were trapped in the ocean we would put old people or kids in the middle. Next was the H.E.L.P position. Which means heat escape lessening position. Basically we put our knees to our chest to keep us warm in emergencies. We tried to do a handstand underwater with the life jacket. But it could not be done but it could if someone pushed us down.
The last learning we did with the life jacket was how to enter water safely well wearing the life jacket. We first put one arm on a shoulder well another arm well be behind our head (to make sure we did not hit the wall with our head). Then step forward into the pool until you have fallen off (not like a jump into the pool).
I am in Year 6 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 1, and my teachers are Mr Wong and Mr Ogilive.

LI : to learn new skills to survive
We first warmed up doing streamlines. A streamline is when you put your arms up behind your head and kick. Next we did back strokes we swam with our chest facing up then flipping over to face the water. When that was done there were toys that were in the water we had to dive to find.

Swimming
LI : To learn skills about swimming to stay safe in the water.
We first warm up before we learnt new skills. It was doing a streamline. A stream line is were you put your arms above your head then make them straight. Next we tried to save someone who is in the water well we do this we are told what we should use, and what position we should be in (we also received tips). And what we should do if were stuck in the middle of the ocean. Then we played a little game were there were little sticks and we had to garb them well not touching the ground as a challenge.

Swimming
LI : To learn how to swim in water
We went into the pool we first swam to an area to see what group were going into. I got put into the highest group, the first strategy we did was pan cake were we floated and spared out like a star fish and flip our self over to face up ward. The next strategy we did was the dolphin dive it is were we jump up and dive down to touch the group and go back up. We found a area were we had dolphin dive to.
The last strategy we did was we lay flat like a star fish but our legs and arms are by our side. And then we put our legs to make a ball shape then do some sort of flip in the water then come up and release our legs and swim. It was time to go so we all freestyled to were we are meant to be.

Kiwi Sport
LI : To learn how to swim
Today the Y5s went onto a bus and into swimming.We got changed and first swam on our back and kick our feet really fast.We did this 3 times before doing jellyfish.Jelly fish was when you put you knees up then made a triangle shape and putting it in the middle fast.This was hard to do as I and others were knew to doing something like this.Next we did swimming under water.The frist thing we did was to garb a toy and chuck it and go under water or duck dive.Duck dive is when you left your body up and dive.Ather that we had to swim in a hoop,It was easy and hard as it was at the bottom of the pool so you had to dive deep.Ather we got a noodle and did a horse race.We said bye as this was the last week and went back to LS1.

LI : To learn about swimming.
Today the Y5's went to swimming.We frist did the roll and went into the pool.We rolled form front to back,This is how it worked.We counted to 6 and changed so we can breathe.The next thing we did was duck diving,And free style arms for duck diving we left our body up and dived back down.We next went down deep and went into a hoop and a kick practise were we kicked our legs really fast.Ather that we learnt to do slow arms but really fast legs form the hips.We soon did a dolphin kick,And to go deep or go up.We gave a high five and went on a bus back to school.

Swimming
LI : To learn how to swim
Today I and year fives went to swimming.We got in our places and did a roll before we merged with another group.We all got small boards and made waves.I was the frist one and I had to go to one side to another.It was hard then new people had to try to get to one end to another.We all lined up on a wall and started to climb up.We walked to a small version of the pool.We had to make one big circle and move around.The frist try was hard but the next one we knew to stand up and run fast to a side well keeping our feet up.The third try we did it and it was good.We spined the circle fast.We also layed down on our back and tryed to not touch the ground.We did this a last time and it was like the others.We said bye before we left and walked to the bus.

We frist went near the each but not inside the water.We talked about hypothermia and the signs witch was shivering teeth.Talking weird and how to warm them up and other things.Then we went inside the pool and stream line witch was not hard.We had to put our arms in fornt of us and kick fast.The next thing we learned was foalting on our back and then we had to look up count to 6 and go back down and count to 6 then free freestlye and lasty was dolphin dive and kick.We said bye and went back to the bus.

Swimming
LI : To be safe in the water and learn skills.
Today all of LS1 went to the swimming pools to learn swimming.We were the year fives so I was in the middle beacuse I was ok in test so we could be put in the group.We lined up and did our safe way in a pool.So now were had to learn about skills like the jellyfish so we had to put two arms on our side and push the water.We also learned a new skill which was called the starfish,We had to lay on back and kick in the water for us to get to one side and another.The last skill that we learned called torpedo arms.We also learned that feet need to be first because if we get in a river the foot might or will be broken but the head won't.We did a game before we left.

Kiwi sport
Today we went to the panmure pools to learn new skills for swimming.We changed our clothes and jumped in the pool,We all had to do one skill frist before anything.We had to put one arm up on the right side then swap so the our arm can go on our left side.Well doing that we had to put our head up and breathe.The task was kinda hard and most of us did not do it well,then we were put into groups form bad to good.We had a person teach us things as well,we all had to go on the side of the pool and go in slow into the water.Then we learned some other skills before playing a game.The person garbed some toys and we had to get them and bring them back.When that was done we learned another way to get in the pool safe or any type of thing that has water like a water fall.Then we learned a few more skills till we put a clothes back on and went back to school.
