LI : To learn about maori.
Today we first had a turn with the poi, a poi is an instrument that maori people used and still use. It would also help with flexibility with the wrist. We had a few minutes of doing practices with the poi before learning how some words in maori relation to the poi. Such as runga which means top or lift up.
I am in Year 6 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 1, and my teachers are Mr Wong and Mr Ogilive.

Maori
LI : To learn about the maori language
The first task we did was about speaking in maori. We would say No hea koe which means, where are you from?. When we said that we would add at the end of the phrase the person we said it to, so we know who said what.
The next objective we did was speak to our maori to our teacher, in maori and understand what she is saying. Used phrases like we are we from and etcetera. We would either answer in english then say it in maori or say it in maori and not in english. She would lastly say names of countries, they did not sound the same but we would use, clues to find out the answers.
We were up to the third task but it was never finished, we plan to do it next week.

LI : To learn new words in maori.
The first thing we did was talk with fire odie. She would ask us new questions from last week, she would write what the phrase/word means in maori. And write in english what it means so we can read the question, if we have forgotten.
The next task was like that but this time we had a grid with words and our group had to divide and conquer the worksheet. Our group would use maori dictionary to help find the meaning. The repeated words like "roa" or "toa" would mean that they had multiple meanings instead of one.
