LI : To learn about the types of animals and what they do.

We went to the zoo! We met two zoo keepers call Patrick and Hohai. Hohai we come with us on our adventure! We first saw the serval who is from Africa We are in the area with African animals. The serval's BE (behavioural enrichment) is that there is meat on a pole and jump up to get the meat as serval's are good jumpers.

Next was the cheetah there BE is trees and they can go 100kms/H for 30s there claws cant retract but they do help to grip on the ground when they go fast they have to balance there tail helps with that there so good that they don't need practise running.

When then saw elephants one call Burma from Burma and Anjalee from sri lanka they are both Asian elephants the poachers want there tusks. Anjalee is prehensile meaning her trunk is like our hands they eat fruits veggies and hay There BE is to use there trunks to get food. Elephant poo can also be turned into paper!

And flamingos they may look awesome but there very loud and they eat small insects in the water and they sleep with one leg up.

And lastly from africa the rhino and nyala the rhino horn was poached and given to the zoo we held it and it was heavy the horn is made with keratin which is like our finger nails or hair.

Next we went to New Zealand area and saw birds one was a kea they are mountain birds when you touch they attack you. We also saw a kiwi and we had to be very quiet. We saw very large eels they were not electric and they followed you around we also saw very strange insects.

And the last animals we saw were monkeys and parrots then we made our way back thru the zoo and onto the bus.
